External Hard Drives
LaCie Have a suitable range of removable hard drives. I have read some negative reviews including a technical one criticising their 'bridging circuit boards'.
Maxtor Have used these over many years with great reliability.

Exclusive Simple View™ feature provides quick backup and storage status for all users. 2 USB ports for connecting and sharing printers and additional hard drives. (Details from Maxtor website).
Note: Have installed 3 of these now, not without some problems. One site is reporting lost documents from the workstation being backed up. At another site with several workstations accessing the backup log has been impossible for some user backups. The log is vital if an incomplete or failed backup is reported.

What is sometimes not highlighted with this Firewire drive is the fact that it has 2 x IEEE 1394 interfaces at the back, along with the USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 compatible interface. and thus supports multiple logins. i.e. the drive has an Oxford 911 chipset that allows for concurrent access for more than one server at a time, the disk and its partitions can be seen by more than one server at any one time.
We use this drive for shared storage between 2 servers and find it great for the price.
