Photocopiers
Photocopiers are becoming increasingly sophisticated offering:
- Duplexing - two-sided copying
- Networked - available as a network printer
- Scanner - documents can be scanned as JPEG images or PDF documents which can be stored on the copier or emailed or transferred to networked computers.
- On copier storage of documents.
- Integrated Fax facility
- Finishing Capability - collating, stapling even saddle stitching
- Booklet production
- Colour copying.
Issues to consider in making a decision to purchase a photo copier:
- cost, in financial and training (time)involved in the purchase.
- future issues Whether the increased sophistication and size of the copier will create difficulties for service and return of copier to supplier for major repair (an issue for remote sites).
- Application of simpler technology Whether simpler solutions may ultimately be more used eg manual stapling of sets of notes, using stand-alone scanners, using a laser printer for colour printing.
Important:
Consider the Generation Effect . Each stage in a publishing process usually results in degeneration and loss of resolution in both text and image.
